I was born and raised in Kern County, and lived my whole life here. I graduated from North High School and Bakersfield College. I worked on cattle ranches as a young man, also in the oil fields, and drove an ambulance. When I reached the age of 21 I began working in Law Enforcement, and spent 44 years in that profession. I worked for the Bakersfield Police Department, Kern County Sheriffs Office, and the Stallion Springs Police Department. I'm now retired and serve on the Board of Directors for the Stallion Springs CSD. I also serve on the Board of Directors for a private 501(c)(3) called PSPR, Public Safety Professionals Retreat. PSPR is a privately funded organization that assists 1st Responders who are having difficulty dealing with the stress and trauma caused by the situations they experience doing their jobs.
